Purpose


The Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (MCJROTC)... is designed to instill in high school students a value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. It prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. The Program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school, and it provides instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community, and nation.

Collaboration

The Marine Corps JROTC program is a cooperative effort on the part of the Marine Corps and the host institution to provide secondary school students with opportunities for total development. Satisfactory completion of the program can lead to advanced placement credit in the Senior ROTC program or advanced rank in the Armed Forces.

 

This Program Intends to:

  • Develop leadership and build character

  • Create informed, patriotic, and responsible citizens

  • Develop responsible young adults who are physically, mentally, and morally fit.

  • Develop informed and civic-minded young adults prepared for higher education, civilian careers, and public service.

  • Instill discipline, respect, and responsibility through military-related subjects and activities

Means the dedication to carry out all unit tasks and to serve the values of the country, the MCJROTC, and the unit. Commitment leads to the highest discipline for your unit and yourself.

 


JROTC Courses

Marine JROTC 1 (Grades 9-12)

The first year course is an introduction to effective leadership through goal setting, development of good attitudes and habits, and study techniques: includes basic knowledge requirements in drill, ceremonies, physical fitness, military customs, courtesies, traditions and history: emphasis is placed on proper fitting and wearing of cadet uniforms, including personal grooming standards. Cadets undergo an orientation visit to a major Marine Corps installation in the spring.

 

Marine JROTC II (Grades 10-12)
Prerequisite: MCJROTC I

This second year course includes a general study of effective leadership principles and techniques with increased emphasis on individual and group application of human relations and various communications skills and problem solving. Military skills are further developed in marksmen ship competition, to include coaching and drill instruction. Substance abuse first aid and hygiene and map reading are examined. Elected cadets visit a major Marine Corps installation in the spring.

 

Marine JROTC III (Grades 11-12)
Prerequisite: MCJROTC II

This third year course emphasizes leadership application roles with cadets exercising increased responsibility as cadet officers and staff noncommissioned officers. Includes roles as cadet instructors, conference leaders, coaches and leaders in cadet organizations. Emphasis is placed on land navigation , parliamentary procedures, oral and written communications, planning, coordinating, directing and supervising cadet activities. Selected cadets plan, attend and direct cadet visit to a major Marine Corps installation in the spring.

 

Marine JROTC IV (Grades 12)
Prerequisite: MCJROTC III

This course consist of career planning, leadership training, military history with a Marine Corps emphasis, and world events. Students are required to "give back" to the cadet organization by performing as assistance instructors in the academic and physical fitness portions of the curriculum. Practical skills learned to date and demonstrate
