Important Parent Information:
Free & Reduced Meals: Hampton City Schools Food and Nutrition Services is an active partner in your student's education. To succeed in our mission, we want to feed every student. We encourage all parents/guardians to fill out a free/reduced lunch application - even if you think you may not qualify. Each returned application is a great benefit to HCS because a larger percentage of school funding is based on the number of students who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. Students eligible last year are covered for the first ten days of school. However, another application must be submitted to be eligible for this school year. Please reapply as soon as possible so there will be no break in your child's meal status. Hampton City Schools uses a family application process; therefore, one application covers all students listed. Applications are mailed to each household or may be obtained in the school's main office, the Food and Nutrition Services Office, or the HCS web site. If you need assistance or have any questions, contact the School Nutrition Manager at your student's school or the HCS Food and Nutrition Office at (757) 727-2357.
Prepayment of Meals: Prepayments for meals can be made in the cafeteria with the help of the food service manager or online through www.mealpayplus.com Prepayments can be made for the week or month. Parents can specify snack limits for their students. The use of prepayment speeds up the payment process so students can sit down quickly to enjoy a nutritious and fun school meal.
Reminder: Charging lunch is a privilege and should only be used in an emergency. Parents should repay charge slips the next day. Ala carte items may not be charged and snacks may not be purchased until the charges have been cleared. Adults and high school students may not charge.
