  • Prepare for employment and further education in business careers
  • Gain knowledge and skills through classroom, laboratory, and job-site experiences

VIRTUAL ENTERPRISE (VE)

Prerequisite: Two Business classes and
one teacher recommendation

  • Students learn how to establish and operate a business
  • Marketing, business management, accounting, & business plan development skill emphasized
  • Recruits a local business to be a consultant
  • Virtual Enterprise teaching method may be used in Business Management, Advanced Marketing, Advance Fashion, or Marketing Management classes
  • Acquire an overview of national and international business
  • Explore the social and economic environments of business
  • Learn facts about business ownership, finance, communications, human resources, and management functions

  • Create professional documents demonstrating principles of layout design and desktop publishing
  • Use computer peripherals such as scanners, digital cameras, and video devices to produce multimedia presentations or interactive web pages
  • Analyze scanned/digitized audiovisual elements, documents, and electronic graphs that may be used legally but are ethically questionable

ACCOUNTING (Grades 10-12)

  • Learn accounting principles and the need for established procedures to deal with finances

ADVANCED ACCOUNTING (Grades 11-12)

WEB PAGE DESIGN (Grades 10-12)

Prerequisite: IT Fundamentals, Keyboarding Applications,

  • Develop proficiency in using desktop publishing software to create a variety of business publications
  • Work with hardware and software to develop interactive multimedia presentations
  • Design and produce web pages using HTML, Cascading style sheets, Javascript, and Studio MX

Database Design & Management I

Prerequisite: Algebra I with a "C" or higher for both semesters, and
Algebra II or concurrently enrolled in Algebra II

  • Transform business requirements into operational database
  • Create Entity-Relationship Diagrams that model organizational information
  • Map information requirements reflected in the Entity-Relationship Model into a relational database design
  • Create physical relational database tables
  • Construct a web site that interacts with a database
  • Create and maintain database objects and store, retrieve and manipulate data using SQL and PL/SQL programming languages

BUSINESS LAW (Grades 11-12)

  • 1 semester course (1/2 credit)
  • Examine the American legal system
  • Study the legal rights of minors and adults
  • Learn the legal rights of a U.S. citizen
  • Study laws concerning contract, insurance, sale/credit, real estate, and employment

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (Grades 11-12)

  • 1 semester course (1/2 credit)
  • Acquire an overview of national and international business
  • Explore the social and economic environments of business
  • Learn facts about business ownership, finance, communications, human resources, and management functions

COLLEGE and CAREER PATHWAYS (Grades 11-12)

  • 1 semester course (1/2 credit)
  • Career research will be conducted on 3 most suitable careers for each student
  • SAT applications will be completed
  • Resumes, cover letters and job applications will be completed
  • Mock interview will be conducted
  • Colleges, vocational schools and military will be researched for opportunities after high school
  • Financial aid, scholarships and grants will be researched for aid opportunities for further education
  • Develop an education and career-planning portfolio including students short and long term goals
  • Consider factors to establish credit and acquire loans for automobiles, mortgages, etc

KEYBOARDING (Grades 10-12 only)
(Grade 9 takes Digital Input Technology)

  • 1 semester course (1/2 credit)
  • Develop touch skills for entering alphabetic, numeric, and symbol information on a keyboard
  • Develop word processing concepts through writing activities
  • Compose notes, letters, stories/articles, and reports
  • Enter technical and non-technical documents
  • Develop proofreading and editing skills
